Natural City South Korea
A high-impact Korean sci-fi blockbuster that won the Best Special Effects prize at South Korea's Grand Bell Film Awards.
It is 2080 and the Last Great War has devastated the globe. On a rebuilt earth, technology enforces law, and genetic experiments have achieved new levels of complexity. In developments mirroring the classic of the genre, Blade Runner, human-robot hybrids have been manufactured to take care of the most perilous and unsavoury occupations in the new world order. An illicit trade in doctored cyborgs and their controller neuro-chips has resulted in a series of extremely violent crimes. Mecaline City has launched the MP task force to deal with the problem. Mercy is not a part of its orders.
Although the film is pulsing with CGI effects and gadgetry, the core of the story deals with basic questions of humanity. If we are the sum of our thoughts and emotions, what difference does it make whether they are generated by an organic brain or an artificial one' Renegade cyborgs, with life and love at stake, will do terrible things for just one more day of life. For cops and cyborgs alike, time is running out.
