"It is impossible to defend Turkey Shoot, therefore it is essential viewing." - urbancinefile.com.au
When Philip Adams declared this "unrivalled sadism and brutality" and "pornographically violent", Turkey Shoot's fate was sealed as the guiltiest pleasure in Australian film history, suited to the cineaste who can watch without snobbery.
With more than a passing nod to the Italian sub-genre of ultra-violent horror flicks made infamous by Lucio Fulci and Umberto Lenzi, Turkey Shoot proudly continues the tradition with a group of inmates in the not-too-distant year ‘2000' unleased and hunted down like kangaroos. Much spearing and evisceration ensues.
"A caricature... grotesque. I watched it once and never again. It's a puerile bunch of crap." - Lynda Stoner, actor in Turkey Shoot
