The 2008 Jeonju Digital Project continues to showcase innovative work of established filmmakers working in the digital format. This year the project brings us three shorts from the dark continent.

Expectations, by Chad's Mahamat-Saleh Haroun (Dry Season, MIFF'07), sees a man return to his village after a failed attempt at a mysterious journey. His funders await him - and his repayments - with impatience.

In The Birthday, by Burkino Faso filmmaker Idrissa Oedraogo (Samba Traore, Tilai), upon finding out that his beautiful girlfriend has a younger lover, a man invites the rival to the woman's birthday party with a macabre act of revenge in mind.

In The Alphabet of My Mother, by Tunisian filmmaker Nacer Khemir, an old woman reminisces to a visitor, recalling an unforgettable past and a longing for her missing son.
