“What about the goddamn piranhas?”

“They are eating the guests, sir.”

A secret government plan involving flesh-eating fish causes havoc when, from a secluded secret pool, the leathal creatures are released by mistake into the river flow. To the delight of the rabid fish, downstream are a kids' summer camp and a newly opened tacky summer resort, where herds of tourists are blissfully splashing around in the soon-to-be-deadly waters.

Dante's second film for Roger Corman after Hollywood Boulevard, Piranha is a joyously biting take on 50s monster-movies, penned by indie director John Sayles. A 3D remake is due in theatres later this summer.

“The ultimate New World Picture, infused with sarcastic Dante touches that gleefully turn the Jaws template inside-out.” - Cinema Scope
