"Takeshi Kitano's best film in a decade." – Cinema Scope
Picking up where Outrage (MIFF 2010) left off, Outrage Beyond opens with rifts beginning to form in the Sanna yakuza family. The younger breed are corporate hotshots who run the family like a corporation, something the old guard are none too happy about. Detective Kataoka decides this is the perfect opportunity to bring the family down, and releases criminal Otomo from prison to unleash holy hell upon everybody.
Legendary actor/filmmaker Takeshi Kitano returns to the crime genre with a film that depicts the yakuza as a dysfunctional business, only with more blood. With Kitano's trademark wry humour undercutting the graphic violence, this is a rare sequel that manages to improve upon the original.
