"This is a film to see and then see again, to soak in and marvel at and – like its director – try to keep up with." Village Voice
When famed filmmaker Michel Gondry (Mood Indigo, MIFF 2013) engages famed intellectual and political activist Noam Chomsky in a series of conversations about Chomsky's life and works, the result is as strange and enlightening as one might imagine. Gondry takes Chomsky's philosophical and linguistic work, and interprets it via his own unique style, translating theories and ideas into tangible animations.
Told in an energetic, unusual and inspired manner, Is the Man Who is Tall Happy? is an offbeat documentary that will appeal in equal measure to fans of Chomsky as well as those unfamiliar with his work.
"A striking inquiry into how we comprehend the world, neatly divided between a man of words and a man of images." Chicago Reader
