A chance encounter after dark offers an autistic man a moment of transcendence.
Victor feels stifled at home, a care facility for adult residents. On an evening walk, he meets Jessy, a young sex worker, who introduces him to Quebec’s queer nightlife. Director Gabrielle Demers creates a simmering air of tension, but any fears we might harbour for Victor’s safety are unfounded. Featuring a gorgeous performance from neurodivergent actor Patrick Dorneval in his screen debut, Blond Night is a sweet and surprisingly tender exploration of autonomy, desire and intimacy.
