Visualised in five distinct animation styles, five women reflect on their varying relationships with their bodies.
This masterfully crafted compendium of the female experience – from body-shaming and menstruation to transphobia and menopause – takes in testimonies from five women of differing ages, ethnicities and sexualities. This diversity of subject matter is matched by a range of visual techniques: oil painting, watercolour, 2D animation, claymation, film scratching. Intersectional and full of insight, Flesh received a special mention from Locarno’s Young Jury and has been selected and awarded at numerous festivals worldwide.
