Program in Focus
The 1986 festival initiated three programs of films specifically curated for children. Films screened included Jane Campion's Two Friends, which was invited to Cannes the same year. Other curatorial streams included: a Super 8 program, featuring work from Australia, the UK and New York; Australia's first International Video Festival; and a Michael Powell retrospective program. More shorts featured than ever before (an increase of 175 films compared to the previous year).
