Laurie Anderson, a performance artist who has achieved the task of "crossing over" to a larger audience, has now made her first feature film. Photographed around New York and in front of a live audience. Anderson and her nine piece band perform 18 of the artist's songs. Using video screens and sub-titles as props, Anderson's bizarre visual choreography includes dancing shirts and a drum suit capable of turning the singer's entire body into a percussive instrument. Anderson, as usual, collaborates with the "Beat" guru William S. Burroughs on several pieces.
