Gaza, December 2023. A confrontation with a disturbing photo on social media triggers questions about what it means to be an onlooker.
In this bracing work of image deconstruction, filmmaker Miranda Pennell (Human Radio, MIFF 2002; Night Work, MIFF 1999) takes a pixelated photo she found on social media and analyses it piece by piece, revealing the cruelty obscured in the composition – and the ways in which the viewer is implicated in its violence.
